If you're considering entrepreneurship as a solution, or even if you've been in business for yourself for a while now, it's important to know first, if you have what it takes to make your business successful. Simple philosophy, but you'd be amazed how many people's ego won't let them complete this simple action. In a world where technological advancements make everyone and everything easily accessible, it would seem that a couple would be drawn closer together, but that’s far from the case. Technological tools that pose as connectors are actually driving some couples farther apart. This is especially true for New Age Networkers, that are not keeping up with life on the homefront. This is my spin on the end of the modern-day romance … This is a eulogy for our poetry nights at the bookstore. Remember the day when that spoken word artist shook us to the core? You were so inspired that you bought her book and I performed her poetry for you. The more I scowled, the more you laughed. I just couldn’t master her lyrical flow, you know? By the way, I disagree, reading poetry on your Kindle just doesn’t seem the same to me. This is a eulogy for our conversations. And the evening phone calls that stretched into the wee hours of the morning. I miss that back-and-forth banter that once defined us. Yes, you used to say tomaaaayyyyto and I used to say tomaaaahhhhto. But it seems we don’t say much of anything anymore. By the way, I disagree, that sweet e-mail just doesn’t seem the same to me. This is a eulogy for our mid-afternoon check-ins. I really miss asking you about your day. And hearing how you planned to make our world just a little brighter. By the way, I disagree, the Twitter updates just doesn’t seem the same to me. This is a eulogy for our intimacy. I really miss staring into your eyes until your random blinks and my rhythmic heartbeats would eventually fall into sync. Your wondrous brown eyes could never lie to me, no matter what your mischievous mouth said. Like when your mouth said, yes, that you loved my Creole dirty rice, well, your eyes told me to never prepare that meal again. By the way, I disagree, that sweet Skype video message just doesn’t seem the same to me. This is a eulogy for our weekly golf outings. After summers of your priceless tutoring, yes, finally, my swing is respectable enough to join you on the green alongside the real golfers. By the way, I disagree--the Wii game version you bought just doesn’t seem the same to me. This is a eulogy for the Build-A-Bear Workshop teddy you stuffed for me. And the handwritten love note that was pinned to its coat. By the way, I disagree--your constant teddy bear ‘pokes’ on Facebook just doesn’t seem the same to me. The next time you visit my Facebook page, perhaps you should check my relationship status. By the time you read this note that, too, would have changed.

Who are you thirsting for?
Good AM Family hope this blog finds everyone in good health, as for me I am doing great. Family I have been getting emails from you and I tell you we have a lot of work to do. We have to start getting back to the basics, and start loving one another. Like I tell everyone yes I am a chef but I am a person that cares about everyone and I have to live in this world and I see what’s going on and I don't like it. Now family it's no secret I love the Lord, and I have a questions for you "Who are you thirsting for?" I have a recipe for getting you through some tough times. As we travel through life there are going to be sometimes when we will get thirsty. Yes we will be thirsty for many things in life, then there that time in your life when you are not only thirsty, but you get hungry too and there is no food around…you know what I am talking about nothing in the box, nothing in the cabinets, and your stomach is touching your back, you remember those hard time? I can remember when all I could do is cry because I had nothing to eat. Life sometimes is like that you have your peaks and valleys, but life demands that you lead with your chin up and shoulders squared. Have you ever been so thirsty that you couldn’t drink enough water or anything? Have you ever been so distressed that you feel like no one would ever understand what you are going through? Have you ever just felt like there was no hope? Well family I am here to tell you that there is hope. In the Bible Psalm 42:1-3 is one of my favorite books in there you find a recipe for that thirst you might have. David, who is a man after God’s own heart, was so thirsty for God that he compared his yearning for God to that of a deer panting for water by the stream. Have you ever seen a deer drink water from a stream, he is always on the look for the predator even as the deer drinks his heart is racing and if the slightness noise comes about that deer is ready to get out of there, which means most of the time deer never quite quiche their thirst. David was a spiritually thirsty man; how thirsty are you for God? Have you ever tasted your own tears; David says “My tears have been my meat or food day and night” your tears are salty and you ever tasted something salty? When you eat or drink something salty it makes you more thirsty so the more crying you do the more thirsty you become, the more thirsty you become the more of God you want, the more of God you want the stronger you get, and the more stronger you get the more of a leader you become. A leader in your family, community, on your job, everywhere you go you are seen as a leader. Psalm 42:2 My soul thirst for God, for the living God? When shall I come and appear before God. Church there is lots of different things o the market today that will try to sell you on the fact that they can quiche your thirst……Gatorade “for that deep down body thirst”, Vitamin water “either you get it or you don’t”, coke-cola, Pepsi won’t do it, Mountain Dew or Sprite just won’t cut it, Kool aid or Tang won’t make it, 7up or Ginger ale good for tummy ache but won’t quiche my thirst nothing works better than good old fashion water to quiche your thirst, who are you thirsting for? I'm not preaching to you family, I just want us to get it together, I want us to love one another. What's Really Going On?????
Hey family hope things are going good for you. I have to ask "What’s going on with us today? We are number 1 in some of the most deadly diseases we can find. AIDS/HIV, Diabetes, Heart Diseases, that’s just to name a few, what’s going on with us family? I for one have diabetes and high blood pressure and not happy with myself and one of the major factors was what I was putting in my mouth. We can prevent a bunch of these diseases if we watch what we eat and I say let’s get busy. We have been a people that have overcome so much adversity that we should be able to get a handle on this. Yes people are always having walks, programs, conferences and things like that but we have to one at a time do something. What might you ask??? When was the last time you have a sit down dinner with your family and I not talking about the local restaurant, but I mean you cooked everything and everyone sat down and ate, talked and be a family. Now again you might ask what does that have to do with anything well family you know what you put in your food you don't know what the guy down the block puts in his. I can remember when we ate some of the same foods that we eat today and we didn't have half of the problems we have today, why you might ask well life style has one big part, with microwaves, pre-package foods, and this busy life style that we have now we have gotten more and more unhealthily. Family let commit to once a week to start let's have dinner together, if you can't cook I will come and cook for you, but let’s start somewhere. You might be surprise to find out something about your family you didn't know, but everyone has to put down the blackberries, laptop, the PSP's, and just sit and talk to each other. When are we, going to stand up and fight the idea, pervasive in our youth, that if you are excelling in school, in advanced classes and dominating (academically) you classmates, you are “acting white”. This idea is absurd! Throughout history, we have pushed education when it was forbidden upon pain of death! Even during Jim Crow, we created over 150 colleges to serves our children when the mainstream ones refused to let us in. When mainstream businesses refused our money, we became entrepreneurs and set up thriving districts such as Little Hayti in Durham, North Carolina and Black Wall Street in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This all happened, because we educated ourselves, either formally or informally!! ------------------------Now, after our people fought to open doors to the mainstream of American intellectual life, a thief come in the night to steal the victory and perseverance from our kids; the idea that academic excellence is “acting white”, our ridicule of our brothers and sisters who strive for educational and professional excellence. As they go forward in their academic accomplishments, we have Black idiots taunting them with the label “acting white.” Do not confuse professionalism or academic excellence with “acting white.” One has nothing in the world to do with the other. In fact, those Black folks who do not encourage nor support their fellow Black students or Black businesses are actually the ones “acting white.” They also act white when they do not sound their objections or defend against other races that denigrate their Black brothers and sisters, or when they mistreat their own Black people with the same lies, injustice and incorrectness as white supremacist do. Those who are accusing other of “Acting white,” are simply being niggerish, or, put a better way “stupid”, themselves! -----------------------I issue a challenge to everyone! Check you state’s, your individual district’s, your child’s school’s status on proficiency tests. You will see an great gap in the performance of black and white students. Check the ACT, SAT, AP, and other tests. With affirmative action about to go off into history and the standards rising, we must reaffirm our intellectual tradition. Start reading (newspaper, books, magazines, etc., use the public library, etc.). As a special treat, give your kids gifts certificates for bookstores. Take your children to museums, galleries, parks, etc. We must challenge the idea promulgated through BET and throughout history that all we do is play sports and rap!! Why I Made the Move From A Travel MLM
Why do I have to defend my territory in the Traditional Travel Agent vs. MLM issue? Here's why. This post may seem like someone other than me, but I am passionate about this topic and I want people to understand how I feel. It's 2005 and I was happy in my career of Health Administration. With two Masters' degrees and additional certifications, I made an excellent salary. Life was good - or so I thought. Although my family and I were comfortable, we didn't see each other often. I worked 7 days a week, 14-16 hours a day. Now even with an excellent salary, what do you think that salary turned out to be in the end? Peanuts. I won't go into a lot of details, but my husband and I had stumbled across a situation that was real intriguing back in 2001. In 2005, my cousin introduced me to an opportunity to go into business for myself. My first thought was "Wow, I can work for myself and not work so many hours". My second thought was "Wow, travel! Interesting. This is what we saw in 2001". I was totally in. I took it as a sign. From that point, I started my travel business and fired my boss in a career of over 25 years. I have never been happier, although it seems I work way more hours than 7 days a week! But it's doing something I love - providing joy to my clients by creating dream vacations. I also surpassed my salary. So, what's the problem you ask? Well, that travel business took me into the world of MLM. That was a world I had no real experience in nor did I have the desire to learn it. But it was a great opportunity to get into the field I longed for in a much easier fashion. My travel business has been quite successful since I started it in 2005. I have asked family, friends and colleagues to book travel with me and have put together numerous group trips and cruises. I have also worked with many churches and non-profits to assist them in raising much needed funds for their organizations using travel. This MLM world is one that is totally hated by the Traditional Travel Agent world. One of my colleagues in the industry even has a blog that attempts to describe the reasons why Travel and MLMs are a bad mix. I say "attempt" because it really is one-sided as it only discusses one company. But, that's ok. I definitely understand many of the concepts they discuss. Travel MLMers, for the most part, have no intent of booking travel. They are recruiters. And the traditional spiel is how you can "travel for free", "travel better for less", "earn commissions on what you book" and "write off your vacations on your taxes". The average person is wholly absorbed by the notion of earning an income that seems so easy. And those recruiters are good at what they do. There are many $10,000 bonuses to prove it. But my problem is others' response to me. My experience in my Travel MLM has been more than positive, although I did relatively little recruiting. My focus was travel when I started in 2005 and remains travel. My interest in travel has been so intense that I have always sought after much more training and education than my company required. I saw this as no different than any other travel agent in the industry. But the behavior and responses to me have been more than unfavorable ONLY because of my association with an MLM. I've always been a very personable person who never gets into confrontations. But I'm ready to fight now to defend my territory!! I have recently aligned myself with a "legitimate" host (only "legitimate" because it's not MLM). I am near completion of my Accredited Cruise Counsellor (ACC) training, am simultaneously working my Certified Travel Associate (CTA), have completed Spa, Hawai'i, Las Vegas, Disney and Cancun Specialist trainings, completed a couple of Recommend Destination trainings, completed the Princess Cruise Lines and Norwegian Cruise Lines trainings, and am a Non Profit/Church Funding Specialist. I think that's pretty impressive for only 3 1/2 years in the industry. I have always commanded respect in my former career because I knew I was totally and completely educationally prepared to handle the tasks at hand. At this point, I feel no different. I have a lot to learn in the industry, but I know I'm on the right road. I never stop learning and never stop taking advantage of learning opportunities. I have also aligned myself with an independent agent who is willing to provide training to me. She couldn't care less how I came into the industry - she only cared that my goal is to book travel. The same colleague who authors the above blog also says: "It doesn’t matter if you have been in the industry one month or one century. It does not even matter if you have never sold a cruise, or sold ten thousand. In every sense, to some extent, you are your own brand. And you are valuable. And all too often I have seen agents allow someone else to steal their brand without a fight. As Mike said, you will need to fight, and when it comes to your personal brand there is no fight more worthy." So, the bottom line is I will continue to command respect in my new career. YES, I came through an MLM. YES, there are many that come through MLMs who have no intentions of booking travel. YES, there are also many in the MLMs who WANT to book travel and deserve the right to do so just as the Traditional Travel Agents. I say - LET THEM. Someone asked should the industry "allow" them in if they leave a particular company? I say, WHY NOT? If they have detracted from an MLM or dually-aligned themselves with a "legitimate" host to book travel, who are you not to "accept" them and to direct unfavorable behavior toward them??? Thats says something about professionalism to me. I am having a wonderful time in this industry. I am prepared to create dream vacations for you.
