Edward Harris		6/15/2009 1:51:02 PM Dear Friends, I have lived with the pain all my life of having to reason with myself - why did my father totally ignored by existence? When we hear the term "single parent" most cases, we can readily assume it is the mother because women stand up to their responsibility. I will love to find a away to get men to recognise their failing in respect of taking care of their children. In my case, it has been 65 years of asking WHY? Today it is even worse as young men are caught wit maintaining the life style of the rich and famous. Everything the wear and use must be DESIGNER TYPE. At the same time teenage pregnancy cases are soaring. It is a mad world. Survival is the name of the game. Survive they will but it is even worse when those who suffer the pain of being ignored by fathers, return the favour. What is responsible for this behaviour, can this type of behaviour be minimised rather than expand? Let us develop this dialogue. Something needs to be done to arrest this situation as our children are hurting. Think on this troubling situation whichj is deteriorating as more people enter the category of the poor and vulnerable. Are you concerned? Men PERIOD ( but more commonly BLACK men) are "potrayed" as the one not doing his part when in fact..MANY of us do. Realize that there are SOME mothers that will do all they can to tear that down out of spite. Realize that as a BLACK MAN...nothing is ever easy.....but we DO stand up to responsibility...not just women. I'm guessing you took this general rationalization based on your local news station but don't be fooled by what they WANT you to hear. Congrats, you've fallen for the trap and spreading it just as they want you to. One can't stop a cause by adding to it in the same tone. And at 65......this shouldn't be a hard equation. Before trying to conquer the "Worlds" issues...start building "Within" Don't let YOUR grief speak the volume of US......The strong MEN that are handling responsibility! I have found Most (not all) men to be much weaker than we think. When times get hard, that's usually when they run. If things aren't going as they think they should, they bail. They don't know what else to do, since that's what their father did to them. As Jimmy stated "So if you have single black women raising black boys what do you get.... A Black Man who don't know how to be a Father!" That is so true. Or you get an angry black man that is mad at the world, which we all know will prevent progression. I know so few men that do this anymore I don't pay it any attention. I have come to find that men that ignore their children are on some type of addictive trip. Then there are women that like going out with those nut cases and don't do anything to protect themselves. So who is really at fault here. I would give my car to someone that can't drive.
